We have been reviewing the hilarious new book My Dad’s Jokes are Very (Terribly, Awfully, Painfully) Bad! By author Jacob Eckeberger.
About The Book
The book is all about bad Dad Jokes and contains a fair few of these throughout. It also comes with a challenge for you and your child:
Can you make it through the end of the book without laughing?
About the Author
Jacob is a youth worker, musician, and a new author living in Minneapolis, MN. He spends his time playing pretend dinosaur/unicorns with his kids and creating music with his wife.
The inspiration that led him to write this children’s book about bad dad jokes was the saying “Write what you know”.
Review
I read this book with my 9-year-old daughter and we both thoroughly enjoyed reading it. She was slightly better at the try not to laugh challenge than me during the book but halfway through we were both laughing away at the terribly, awfully, painfully bad dad jokes. It is very hard not to laugh.
My Dad’s Jokes are Very (Terribly, Awfully, Painfully) Bad, is very cleverly written and both the jokes and the try not to laugh challenge has been subtly incorporated into a story so it is not just a book of bad (but funny) jokes.
The book itself is a short book of 24 pages my daughter did say at the end she wished it was longer as she was enjoying it so much.
